Learning Letter Sounds
This week I have started giving out letter sounds to the children who are developmentally ready. Please do not worry if your child does not have one yet, I will continually review the children's progress so that your child will have one when THEY are ready! For those of you whose children have got sounds if you are stuck please have a look below. If you click on the letters the sounds can be heard!!

12 March 2010 BRAND NEW WELSH GAME! (Nursery and Reception voices)
Our Pets
Our topic for this term means that some of our pets have been in to visit! If you would like to bring your pet in after half term, please come and see me.

Forest School Session 1
During our first session we put on our wellies and went out to the log cirle.
First of all we had to learn the very important log circle rules. We then closed our eyes and listened to the sounds of the great outdoors. The birds made the most 'noise' so we decided to focus on them in our next few lessons.

Forest School Session 2
Today it was raining so we wore our waterproof suits. Putting them on independently was a real challenge, but we did it!
Following on from last weeks session, we reinforced the log circle rules and listened to the sounds of birds. We concentrated on the fact that all birds sound different. We learnt that a blackbird sounds different to a blue tit etc.
We then played un, dau, tri, ble rwyt ti? Which is a bit like hide and seek in Welsh.

Forest School Session 3
This week we made homes for birds. We learnt that their homes were called nests and they were made in the shape of circles. We looked at the materials birds use to make them before we set about making our own.
We Have Been Celebrating Chinese New Year
This year is Chinese Year of the Tiger - raaarr! We enjoyed listened to the story of how the animals were placed in order.
We then made a huge class lion to use at the end of the week in our Chinese New Year celebrations. We also made a lot of individual items, including laisee pockets, fans, dragons and lanterns. To enhance our free play opportunities we had a chinese pincer game, red water, rice (instead of sand), chinese materials to make clothing, and lots more.

Chinese Food Tasting
As part of our Chinese New Year celebrations we have been tasting chinese foods. We had noodles and rice to eat with chopsticks, which was great fun, as well as prawn crackers with sweet and sour sauce and fortune cookies.

We have been celebrating St David's Day.
Look at us in our Welsh costumes.

During January we had so much snow, we wanted to do something with it. We had already been sledging and built snowmen at home, so we decided to paint it! It was great fun painting our footprints, painting snowmen, flicking paint and much much more. Have a look at the photos of us enjoying ourselves.
Autumn Term

18th December 2009
We planted bulbs with our friends from Tidy Towns
Friday 20th November was Robbie's party. For the previous two weeks we have been making preparations, which involved tasting cakes, making sandwiches, making cards, party hats, etc.
The party was amazing! We danced...and danced, played party games, ate party food and just generally had a good time!!!!!

Week Beginning 2nd November
This week we have been celebrating Bonfire Night. We looked at the work of Jackson Pollock, made firework pictures on the computer and even moved like fireworks. We had hotdogs for snack, as well as apples dipped in toffee sauce and popcorn.

Mendhi Hands
September 2009
Recently, we sat down as a class and decided on some rules to help keep us safe and happy in school. All of these rules were suggested by the children, however i have helped them with the wording.....
Our Class Rules
1. We always try to be kind to our friends.
2. We try to share and take turns.
3. We always listen to each other.
4. We always walk inside the classroom.
This week we will be starting our healthy snack. Please can you provide a 75p per week contribution to cover the cost.
This week we celebrated Book Week. Some of the children brought they favourite books in to show the class. We sang lots of nursery rhymes and on friday we all dressed up as book characters. We all had great fun.
Week Beginning 21st September
Thank you for another great week, i appreciate how difficult it is for some parents to leave their children with us when they are upset, but it is great that you have had the trust and confidence to so. I promise they do stop crying when you have left! I have taken loads of photos to show you how happy they are in my class. These will be uploaded in the next couple of days, so please look back again soon.
I have uploaded a slideshow of images for you to browse. Please have a look and if you get chance, give us a shout on the Guestbook. It is always great to receive feedback!
