So here we are, in our final week of being Reception.  This has been a fantastic year and it is getting close to the long summer holiday and then the move up to Year One!

As the school year comes to an end it is a good time to reflect on the wonderful things we have achieved in Reception.  Everyone in the class has come so far because individually and collectively we have worked so hard to improve.  Thank you to all the children in my class for an amazing Reception year.

This is an exciting time for the children and this week we will continue to help with transition (to the new building and with a new teacher).  If anyone has any concerns about the move please come and see me. We will be sad saying 'goodbye' to the children, but we will be seeing them lots in the future!  All the best to the children and families for the years to come.

Thank you to our parents/carers/friends for your support this year and to those who have written comments on the guestbook this year, it is always great to read these.

We went to Barry Island (click here before looking at the pictures) on our school trip.  It was such a fun day out.  We enjoyed going on the beach and digging, playing with our friends and burying the teacher.  Some of our parents came to help out and they joined us in the rain down on the sand.  We got sand in our sandwiches and then we had an ice cream from The Beach Comber shop.  It was such fun!  On the way home some of us had a little sleep and the mums had a chat.  The children in our class were all so well behaved and they made Mr Lock so proud!

This half term has started with a really exciting project in the Early Years Unit outdoor area.  Quite a few volunteers from GAVO came and helped us to improve our Outdoor Classroom.  All of the Teachers, Nursery Nurses and Assistants worked hard on making the playground an exciting and fun place to play on June 4th.  The children gave their ideas and we put these into plans and then created something for us all to enjoy and work within.  The Welsh Assembly Minister Dr Brian Gibbons was really interested and came for a visit...and photos were taken which could be in The Echo, Campaign
(click on the image to read the article or Campaign online version)
and Local View Magazine.  We created some new play things, put shelving in our container to give us easier access and gave existing resources a new lease of life.  Read more here.

This half term we went on an Early Years Unit trip to Barry Island, which supported our topic, 'Finding Nemo.'  Reports have been written and will be given out this half term and children will be involved in transition activites, ready for the move up through the school.  We will be involved in lots of outdoor play and learning and Mr Lock will making the children work their socks off before Year 1.

Thank you to all of our parents for your continued support and care.  It was great to speak to you at parents evening and share our stories and celebrate the good work that has been done by 'Dosbarth Un' this year.  Everyone has improved.  Every child is showing their best and has become more in tune with working alongside and in collaboration with other members of our class.  Children are more confident with speaking and listening, reading, writing, sounds, words, sentences, numbers, shapes and colours.  Children are generally more able to problem solve and think about how they got to an end result.  Well done 'Dosbarth Un' and thank you parents.
